Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce
“If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save everyday 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend it with you.”
Do you remember singing along to the #1 song on the 1973 charts, Time in a Bottle, written and recorded by Jim Croce? Even with all the amazing technology available to us in the 21st century, mankind can’t save time in a bottle and store it for use later. We can measure it, we can manage it, we can waste it, we can cherish it, but we cannot control time.
You can’t see, taste, smell, hear or touch it. We can only experience the effects of time—molding, fading, spoiling and deepening of those darn wrinkles!
No person has the power to stop time or change its course, but that realization offers an intriguing plot for writers!
Thoughts on time abound in the English language because time governs our lives.
The time of my life.
Time is money.
Time waits for no one.
“Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why they call it the present.”—Bill Keane
“We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.” --Jeremy Irons
One way to cope with our inability to control time is to capture it through photographs, store memories in our brains, and share them with our families or future generations through oral or written stories and videos.
If you plan to preserve your legacy stories, I’d say, “It’s Time!” If you don’t know where to begin writing or publishing, I have penned books to help you tell your life story. Take a peek at them now. You can download the eBooks at major online booksellers or order the book in print at amazon and Barnes and Noble.
