October is filled with scary stories, movies, ghosts, and goblins. BOO! Halloween is only a week away, so I chose to share this fun poem with you which is loved by people of all ages.

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Little Orphant Annie by James Whitcome Riley was first published in 1883 under the pseudonym “Benj. F. Johnson, of Boone” in the popular collection The Old Swimmin’ Hole and ’Leven More Poems (1883).

Do you know Riley wrote the poem about a real-life orphan girl named Allie?

This poem has endured through the ages. I think you’ll see why after listening to this clever poem, especially during this time of year. I am delighted to share it with you today!

Be brave and listen to these verses warning you to be good or “the Gobble-uns at gits you
Ef you
Don’t
Watch
Out!”

Thanks for reading JQ’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.
