BACK OF THE BOOK: The Midwest backdrops the author’s protected childhood during the Cold War period of the 1950’s. The Civil Rights and Women’s Movements, then the Vietnam War era, fuel her desire to better know the world. These events propel her into a journey of social justice activism, one of discovery, defiance, spiritual formation and personal power. The story arcs when a rare opportunity opens, in tandem with her husband, to experience an immersion into post-revolutionary Cuba.

My birthday flowers
