Hello dear Substack Friends!
Please allow me to share my eventful week with you.
The week kicked off with the release of a guided journal I created especially for moms and for Mother’s Day! I’ve been talking about this journal, a project that is close to my heart. Yes, I am a mom with two grown daughters who are the smartest, most beautiful young women in the world. Hey, I’m their mom and I am entitled to say that! I am also a grandmother to the most fantastic, awesome grandchildren in the world.
So I know that moms have a lot of great stories to tell about mothering. I bet one is popping up in your brain right now—write it on your Substack publication for Mother’s Day. How about sharing that favorite bedtime story with your child, the fun and fright of teaching your child to ride a bike, and the sports you attended offering support to the team? No matter the win or loss, your child was a winner for participating. Don’t forget to reflect on the joys and challenges of being a mom.
My daughter is experiencing the Empty Nest syndrome and I was surprised that I experienced it again right along with her. That is a huge adjustment for families.
Mom’s Memories and Reflections on Motherhood: A Guided Journal is dedicated to helping spark memories and sharing your thoughts on being a mom. The topics, the writing prompts, and the inspiring quotations that accompany the topics can jog those precious and/or problematic memories.
Whether it's a personal purchase or a heartfelt gift for mom on any occasion, this journal promises to be a timeless heirloom, safeguarding memories and reflections for generations to cherish. So grab a pen and dive into this keepsake that promises to be as cherished as that macaroni necklace you can't bring yourself to throw away.
I was thrilled to host my friend and multi-genre author, Helen Henderson, at my blog, Focused on Story this week for the Recipe ‘n Reads Series. Helen shares her recipe, Lokse. This dish has been called an indispensable part of the Slovak kitchen. Click here to discover the recipe passed down from her Old World grandmother and her fantasy novel, Fire and Redemption.
And finally, I’ll let you go because I know you are thinking up the topic you want to write about for Mother’s Day on May 12 in the USA.
But, just a minute. The best event of all the three this week is this snowbird is back home in Michigan. Our daughter and hubby picked us up at the airport, and then we met up with our other daughter, her hubby, and our granddaughter at a restaurant. It was pure joy to be together again after six months.
Thank you for stopping in today. I appreciate your support. Do you observe a celebration day for Mothers in your corner of the world? Are you a snowbird, flying away from the cold, snowy winters up north to a warmer climate?
Ah, yes the empty nest. I remember that experience well. Now, those kids return and bring a lot of others with them. It's wonderful, but I still recall all those years being a young mom with such fondness.
Congratulations to you and Helen!
